Brief Introduction

Sure-LCD helps users control and simulate displaying on MCU-based 16*2LCD and 20*4LCD via USB-based serial port communication.  

 

Main Functions of Sure-LCD V1.1

1 Display a string of numbers to represent hardware info of components on PCB
2 Query current ambient temperature and displaying parameters 
3 Helps you edit texts to be displayed on LCD 
4 Helps you adjust the way that LCD displays 
5 Tips function ( For advanced versions only) 

 

Instructions of Sure-LCD V1.1

1. Main interface after running:

16*2 LCD
 

20*4 LCD
 

2. Right-click this interface and select “Config” on the menu that popped up:


(1) Display in Row: content displayed on the current screen
(2) Screen Settings: To adjust the scroll interval of LCD character, contrast ratio and backlight brightness
(3) Command Group: Select a command from the drop-down list and send the command to display
(4) Com Setting: Settings of COM port
(5) Edit Memo: Area in which memorandum can be edited

Before using Sure-LCD V1.1, please select serial port first and click “Start” button (“Start” is designed to enable the communication with LCD). Then, select a command from “Select” drop-down list and click “Send” to send the command to LCD.

1. About Me A string of numbers will be prompted in the first row of simulation screen. The numbers that you obtained are displayed in “wwhhpeeltrrr” pattern as follows:


2. Retirve Temp

To receive temperature and display it in the first row of simulation screen.

3. Temp in °C

Display temperature in Centigrade degree

4. Temp in °F

Display temperature in Fahrenheit degree

5. Edit A Text

Enter a string of letters and select the row in which those letters will be displayed.
The maximum number of letters in each row is limited to 500. 
To lLCD 16*2, the string will start rolling leftward once the number of the letters entered exceeds 16;
to lLCD 20*4, the string will roll leftward once the number exceeds 20.
The rolling speed can be adjusted by the value of drop-down list of “Scroll Interval (ms)”, select one and click “Apply”.

6. Contrast Readout

Send a request to MCU of the current contrast value of LCD.
e.g.: CR122 means that the current contrast ratio is 122 The range is 1~254, the greater the value, the higher the contrast ratio; whereas the lower the contrast ratio.)

7. Backlight Readout

Send a request to MCU of the current backlight brightness value of LCD 122
e.g.: BAK122 means that the current backlight brightness is 122 The range is 1~254. The greater the value, the higher the brightness.)

Display temperature on LCD and select rows of display

9. Hide/Display All

Hide all text on LCD Display all text

10. Backlight On/Off

Turn on the backlight of LCD Turn off the backlight of LCD;
thereby the backlight slider cannot be used to adjust the backlight of LCD.

11. Send Memo to MCU

The area that marked with “5” is used to edit tips and to simulate the display in rows of 16*2LCD and 20*4LCD.
When 16*2LCD is used, the maximum number of letters in each row is 16 (including space) and the maximum number of rows that LCD can display is 10.

When 20*4LCD is used, the maximum number of letters in each row is 20 (including space) and the maximum number of rows is 10. Select “Send Memo to MCU” and click “Send” to send memorandum you’ve edited to MCU. LCD will still display the memorandum even when the PC is powered off.

Other related operations

To move the simulation screen, just click the left key of your mouse and hold it when the cursor is above the left section of the screen and you can drag the simulation screen to any place you want.

 

Note: Sure LCD V1.1 is based on LCD V1.0 and added with simulation function of 20*4 LCD.
